The Swallowtail Butterfly

The Swallowtail butterfly can have a wingspan of up to 4 inches, especially the black ones. In August here they are most often in the garden, petunia patches and wildlife meadows. They feed on nectar from flowers and the caterpillars enjoy plants like dill, fennel, and parsley. I have noticed they can be rather friendly too!
